Learning How to Manage the Health Care Service System With a Sample Essay on Key Performance Indicators in Health CareSample Essay on Key Performance Indicators in Health Care takes the students into areas that are not covered by the course syllabus. They learn about the health care industry and what it means to live with chronic illnesses such as heart disease, cancer and diabetes. In addition, they learn how to analyze critical problems related to health care and to identify the possible solutions.I was teaching a medical education class when I came across the Sample Essay on Key Performance Indicators in Health Care. As the teacher of this course, I was not aware of the content. I knew the name of the author, Dr. Kevin D. Harris, but the contents of the essay were not discussed. When the students asked me to read it, I did.In this essay, Dr. Harris presents the problems of managing the Health Care Service System. He defines the roles of the Managing Medical Officer, the executive director and the superintendent of hospitals. The essay also describes the three elements of quality: effectiveness, safety and efficiency. It includes example questions and is very well organized.Dr. John P. Stahl, MD, is a world-renowned physician who teaches courses on the factors affecting health care delivery. In addition, he is also an author and a professor. In his Sample Essay on Key Performance Indicators in Health Care, Dr. Stahl provides examples of management techniques for critical care and other areas of medicine. The first section of the essay is about the Health Care Service System and the roles of the Manager, Executive Director and Superintendent. Dr. Stahl explains the concept of State Health Care Services Organization (SHCSO) and describes the four responsibilities of these entities. He also offers examples of how these components function together.Teaching Assistants presented a few of their essays. One essay discussed 'How to Develop a Two-Year Strategic Plan'Ch oosing a Graduate Course' by Vibha Gandhi. The second part of the teaching assistant's essay 'Reviewing: The Role of Team Dynamics' highlighted their research which shows that many teachers develop to focus on the small team approach and less on the large group approach.Another teaching assistant in the class spoke about her essay 'Pediatrics and Diabetes: The Theories and Pathways,' which discusses how the medical field has not accepted that there are health care needs related to diabetic issues. Another teaching assistant in the class spoke about her essay 'Pediatrics and Obesity: The Health Care Debate,' which discusses the connection between obesity and health care and how the relationship has not been adequately understood. Lastly, a teaching assistant presented her essay 'Pediatrics and the Burden of Disease,' which discusses the complex relationship between the aging population and diseases, diabetes and obesity. Many of the Teaching Assistants in the class that I taught for a year had written their own essays related to the study of Pediatrics. One has been published and another was working on an Op-Ed article. Others have shared their thoughts with me. The 'Sample Essay on Key Performance Indicators in Health Care' is one of the most popular essays I have read in a long time.
